Alonso does not believe Lunin can become Real’s number one

Real’s president Florentino Perez is not sure if there’s a necessity to extend the contract with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, El Nacional reported.

The contract of the 33-year-old Belgian runs until 2027. Perez doubts whether it’s sensible to consider him as the main goalkeeper in the future.

Meanwhile, Courtois is trusted by head coach Xabi Alonso. The specialist is confident that he is indeed the undisputed first goalkeeper and sees no reason to seek a replacement.

Moreover, Alonso does not believe that Andriy Lunin is capable of taking on the role of the main goalkeeper. The Ukrainian himself, according to the publication, is determined to leave if the situation does not change drastically.
