President of UAF Andriy Shevchenko stated that it is very important for the Ukrainian national team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Firstly, it is very important to represent our country on the international stage and remind the world of Ukraine’s existence. Secondly, it is a great sporting achievement. We have achieved this only once, in 2006, and we would like to do it again. It would be a great achievement for the players, a chance to showcase themselves on the international stage. Furthermore, it would strengthen us as an association, as such success contributes to the overall development of Ukrainian football,» L’Équipe quotes Shevchenko.
