Haaland is close to repeating Pauleta’s goal-scoring streak in World Cup qualifiers

Manchester City and Norway striker Erling Haaland scored a brace in the 6th round of the 2026 World Cup qualifying tournament against Italy, thus continuing his goal-scoring streak in qualifiers, reaching eight games.

It should be noted that this is the second-longest goal-scoring streak in European World Cup qualification history. The record belongs to Portugal’s Pauleta, who scored in nine consecutive games from 2001 to 2004.
