On the eve of the decisive 2026 World Cup qualifier match Ukraine vs Iceland in Warsaw, the Ukrainian Association of Football and the Football Association of Iceland signed a cooperation memorandum.

The UAF and FAI confirmed a joint interest in developing football projects, improving the quality of educational programs, exchanging experiences, and implementing modern training methods for athletes, coaches, and technical sector specialists.
On the Ukrainian side, the document was signed by UAF President Andriy Shevchenko, and on the Icelandic side — by FAI President Thorvaldur Erlingsson.
According to the memorandum, the parties will cooperate, particularly through directions such as:
— organizing and participating in football tournaments for men’s and women’s teams of all age categories and levels (including charitable competitions);
— conducting technical and educational courses for coaches and technical staff, as well as exchanging knowledge and experience between national association staff and other involved specialists;
— organizing seminars and conferences aimed at developing professional competencies;
— exchanging experience in the field of construction and management of sports infrastructure, application of equipment, materials, technologies, and methodologies related to football;
— cooperation in the fields of sports science and sports medicine, including adaptive football;
— considering the possibility of implementing joint charitable projects and grant programs in the fields of mass, adaptive, youth, and women’s football;
— interaction in the field of security and shaping policies aimed at developing violence-free football.
