Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho, known in Ukraine for his performances for Shakhtar Donetsk (2005−2013), from which he moved to English club Manchester City, has announced his retirement from professional football.
FernandinhoThe 40-year-old footballer announced his decision after a charity match in Curitiba at the Arena da Baixada.
«I am already tired. Today I got exhausted after just 30 minutes of running. There’s nothing that motivates me in football anymore—I’ve achieved a lot and enjoyed everything I could. Now it’s time to enjoy time with my family,» said Fernandinho.
It should be added that the midfielder’s last club was Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense, with whom his contract expired at the end of 2024.
