Renowned Ukrainian coach Roman Hryhorchuk shared his expectations from the matches of the 13th round of the Ukrainian championship, which will take place this weekend.
Roman Hryhorchuk«Poltava» — LNZ: «The favorite is known, but it will be interesting to see LNZ»
— Teams from opposite ends of the standings are playing, but the «purple» team prepared for this game without international players. What are your expectations for this match?
— In my opinion, two teams will meet that are not only at opposite poles of the standings... In all components of football, these teams are on opposite poles, even without considering their positions in the standings. I think that in this game, LNZ is the clear favorite.
— So there shouldn’t be any problems for Vitaliy Ponomaryov’s team in this match?
— No! You can’t say that. I think it won’t be easy for LNZ. Their best games were played when they weren’t playing as the protagonist. Their trump card is quick attacks, in which they look very powerful and effective.
With an opponent like «Poltava,» the game will look different. In my opinion, LNZ will play as the protagonist. It will be very difficult to break through Poltava’s dense defense. It’s even interesting to see how LNZ will look in positional attacks. In any case, the favorite of this match is known.
«Karpaty» — «Metalist 1925»: «It’s hard for me to imagine how this match will turn out»
— Neighbors in the standings will meet, but both teams strive for the best result. What are your expectations for this game? What could be key?
— I agree that both «Karpaty» and «Metalist 1925» are teams that are currently not in their «right» places in the standings. These are teams with strong potential. Many fans expected to see these clubs at the top of the standings. I think that both teams have everything to fight for European tournament spots.
— If we talk about the head-to-head match of these teams: who is the favorite?
— You see, both «Karpaty» and «Metalist 1925» can’t find their game. They had good matches, but they also had unsatisfactory matches — you would want them to be better. But it turned out this way — this is football. Despite Kharkiv’s strong capabilities, they need a little time. «Karpaty»... I can’t analyze deeply, but I understand their expectations are somewhat overstated.
— How about... A head-to-head match!
— I can’t say there’s a favorite in this match. It’s a game where... It’s hard for me to imagine how this match will unfold. Just curious to see how they will play against each other in this tour.
«Kolos» — «Dynamo»: «They can take points from Dynamo. This is no longer a sensation»
— It’s probably the central match of the tour. Kovalivka’s team will strive to please the local audience, and Oleksandr Shovkovskiy’s team must make amends for previous defeats. What is your prediction for this game?
— «Kolos» at the beginning of the championship is a team that I really liked. I saw many serious elements in their game. Probably, this hasn’t disappeared. Some games were unsuccessful in terms of results... Well, they may have slowed down a bit, but if «Kolos» can return to the game they showed at the beginning of the championship, they can create a sensation and take points from «Dynamo.» Although now, you can’t really call it a «sensation» anymore.
«Obolon» — «Shakhtar»: «We don’t call it an easy walk»
— On «Obolon Arena,» no one has it easy. Will Oleksandr Antonenko’s team be able to challenge the miners? What do you expect from this match?
— I think «Shakhtar» is the clear favorite in this game. I believe that «Shakhtar» won’t have many problems. Of course, it will be hard for the «miners» because «Obolon» is a tough nut, they can put up a fight, but the skill of «Shakhtar» players is significantly higher. This will play a decisive role. We don’t call it an «easy walk,» but victory should be theirs.
«Kryvbas» — «Veres»: «Just interesting to watch»
— An interesting match in which the key factor may be the «home stadium.» Van Leeuwen’s guys have stalled in the last matches, and Shandruk’s team has gained momentum. What is your prediction for this match?
— «Kryvbas» surprised me at the beginning of the season because they won a lot of games and played substantial football. They played better and earned more points than expected of them.
Regarding the game against «Veres»... I wouldn’t highlight a clear favorite here, even without knowing who plays at home and who away there should be a serious substantial game. Just interesting to observe this match.
«Полесье» — «Эпицентр»: «Это команды совершенно разного уровня»
— «Волки» нашли свою игру, а подопечные Нагорняка продолжают штамповать досадные поражения. Сможет ли команда Каменец-Подольского навязать борьбу «Полесью»?
— Еще в начале сезона я сказал, что, чтобы построить ту игру, которую хочет видеть Ротань, «Полесье» в полноценном виде мы увидим только после зимних сборов, но ошибся. Теперь мы видим, что даже раньше заметны улучшения в игре команды. «Полесье» с каждой игрой становится все лучше и с каждой игрой демонстрирует хороший футбол. «Полесье» — это топ-команда, демонстрирующая топ-футбол. Даже жаль, что сейчас они не выступают в еврокубках.
В игре против подопечных Нагорняка именно «Полесье» — абсолютный фаворит. Конечно, у них будет определенное сопротивление. Но, на данный момент, это команды совершенно разного уровня!
«Рух» — «Кудривка»: «Рух сильнее, но мы понимаем...»
— Матч равных команд. Подопечные Баранова проиграли все выездные матчи нынешнего сезона УПЛ. Станет ли фактор домашней арены ключевым для «Руха»? Каков будет ваш прогноз на этот матч?
— Это интересно. Я даже не подметил для себя такой парадокс от «Кудривки». «Кудривка» — дебютант, который удивил. Она играет в тот футбол, который следует отмечать с положительной стороны. Команда старается! Как для дебютанта УПЛ подопечные Василия Баранова получили немало турнирных баллов. «Руху» будет непросто, но...
Я хочу высказаться именно о команде Ивана Федыка. «Рух» и «Александрия» чем-то схожи между собой — они переживают одинаковый период. «Рух» сейчас, на мой взгляд, это команда, которая просто гарантированно должна быть выше в турнирной таблице. Они имеют потенциал для достижения лучших результатов. Это тот случай, когда не хватает «чуть-чуть». Если тренерский штаб не сможет проанализировать и понять, чего именно не хватает команде... Они должны решить этот вопрос и тогда будут выше в турнирной таблице, но главное, чтобы не было поздно. В некоторых матчах львовской команде не хватило банального везения.
Игра против «Кудривки» будет интересна. Я даже планирую посмотреть этот матч — мне стало интересно. Что касается фаворитов? Я думаю, что «Рух» сильнее, но мы понимаем, что в футболе бывает разное. С любопытством жду именно эту игру.
«Заря» — «Александрия»: «Александрия находится не на своем месте в турнирной таблице»
— В последних матчах подопечные Виктора Скрипника радуют фанатов и игрой и результатами. Этого нельзя сказать об «Александрии». Чего ожидаете от этого матча?
— Мы понимаем, что «Заря» — фаворит, подопечные Скрипника набирают ход, но, я не думаю, что это будет тот случай, когда луганчане будут явно переигрывать «Александрию». Хотя, «Заря» — серьезная команда, которая может улучшить свое турнирное положение.
Что касается «Александрии»... Я уже говорил, что для меня «Александрия» и «Рух» где-то схожи, между собой. Александрии тоже где-то чуть-чуть не хватает. Подопечные Нестеренко должны быть выше в турнирной таблице — они имеют потенциал. В этой игре «Заря» должна понимать, что им не будет легко, потому что «Александрия» находится не на своем месте в турнирной таблице.
