At the start of the match, Bohdan Redushko had the chance to mark his return from suspension with a goal, but his shot was handled by 'Hibernian' goalkeeper Ryan Mallon. Soon after, Redushko took a dangerous free-kick, striking the outer netting.
Dynamo players continued to control the ball and put pressure on the opponent. In particular, Danilo Ohhorodnik struck from outside the penalty area, but the attempt was unsuccessful. Pavlo Lyusin also headed the ball following a corner, and shortly afterward, Ivan Andriyko shot low from a distance, with Mallon grabbing the ball.
In the 30th minute, Redushko received the ball in 'Hibernian’s' penalty area after an error by the opponents and unleashed a powerful shot that hit a Scottish defender’s back.
In the 35th minute, 'Hibernian' withstood Dynamo’s storming pressure and counterattacked, which could have ended in a goal. Vyacheslav Surkis blocked Jamie McMurdo’s close-range shot, and the ball landed with Dean Clelland, who couldn’t hit an empty Dynamo net with a header.
Soon after, Surkis saved Dynamo’s goal again by repelling a tricky header from Adam Buckley during a corner. In response, Dynamo answered with an overhead kick from Maksym Hrodzinskyi — the ball went wide.
Almost immediately after the break, Hibernian had another scoring opportunity. McMurdo shot at Surkis’s goal while sliding, but the 'white and blue' goalkeeper handled the ball without much trouble.
In one of the attacks, Redushko had another good chance to open the score, but thanks to Lewis Gillie, the ball went for a corner. This set-play became a goal-scoring one. Vladyslav Zakharchenko received the ball from Andriyko’s pass and scored to give Hibernian a lead in the match.
Our team players didn’t stop attacking. Redushko continued to target 'Hibernian’s' goal and shot into the near corner, after which Mallon turned the ball out for a corner. In the 69th minute, the 'white and blue' could have doubled their advantage — Lyusin was in a shooting position but missed the goal.
In the 78th minute, the hosts attacked 'Hibernian’s' goal in several waves but failed to double their advantage. Daniel Dekhtiariy suffered an injury during this attack, forcing him to leave the field. He was replaced by Dmytro Paniimash.
The final whistle confirmed Dynamo’s 1—0 victory over Hibernian. Kyivans gained an advantage in the contest before the return match, which will take place in Scotland on December 10.
