The midfielder of Kyiv «Dynamo» Oleksandr Pikhalyonok participated in the pre-match press conference on the eve of the away match of the 4th round of the main stage of the Conference League with the Cypriot club «Omonia,» which took place on Wednesday in Nicosia.
Oleksandr Pikhalyonok— Today an interview with Oleksandr Karavaev was released, in which he said that the team’s mood is depressed due to recent results. How do you assess the atmosphere in the team? And do you feel that the team is ready for the match with «Omonia»?
— Oleksandr was right. The mood is so-so because the team’s results have not been good. But before every game, we aim only for victory. Tomorrow we will try to showcase everything we’ve worked on in training and achieve results. We will see how it goes from there.
— What did you focus on in training? Was there any psychological tactic you worked on? What did the coaching staff say before the game?
— We usually talk about everything, but we don’t want to disclose anything specific. The game is tomorrow, and you’ll see for yourselves. We’ll discuss things after the game.
— What is the team’s current physical condition? The team held two training sessions in Lublin under cold weather, whereas in Cyprus, it is much warmer. Will such a change require adaptation?
— In my opinion, the team is physically well-prepared. Regarding the weather, I don’t think it is as hot now as it was when we played here in summer. Therefore, I believe special adaptation won’t be necessary.
— Share your impressions of the future opponent, «Omonia»?
— We analyzed many matches — the latest ones in the championship and the European competitions. It is a very experienced team, they play well with the ball and transition quickly from defense to attack. I think tomorrow will be a very interesting match.
