Former Dynamo Kyiv defender Vladyslav Vashchuk shared his expectations for his former team’s match against Cypriot Omonia in the 4th round of the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage, which will take place today in Nicosia.
Vladyslav Vashchuk— I expect nothing but a victory that Dynamo needs like air. The clouds are gathering over Dynamo today, and the Kyiv team is clearly not occupying the place in the tournament table that the fans expect. A victory in the European cup match will bring not only three points but also moral dividends. I think the guys are ready for the match against Omonia and should give a fight and positivity.
It’s good for Dynamo that the bookmakers consider Omonia the favorite. When no one bets on the Kyiv team, on the contrary, they can reveal their potential. When Dynamo is pursued by negative results in the championship, they can claim their due in European competitions.
I will cheer for Dynamo’s victory. The Kyiv team will win 2:1.
About Dynamo’s problems
— Dynamo is drifting with the current, but I don’t understand where to. Before, you had to challenge yourself to overcome difficulties, and the current players are somewhat different mentally. Now Dynamo shows medium-level football because no one wants to go all out on the field.
We are grateful that presidents keep the clubs in such difficult times and find funds, but I have questions for the players. — I don’t see anyone standing out in Dynamo. The players somehow adjust, somehow try, but it’s all somehow. In such a case, they could pay footballers somehow, saying: «There is no money, bear with it.» It feels like everyone wants to earn money and do nothing, but that’s not how it works. You need to live up to Dynamo’s level.
Who can replace Andriy Yarmolenko in Dynamo?
— We will see what happens next. Maybe some player will get their act together, and a leader will emerge in the Kyiv team. I wish that Dynamo had leaders not only in the blogging industry but also on the field.
About Shovkovskyi
— I don’t see the point in his dismissal. Oleksandr Volodymyrovych is trying to do everything as he sees fit. Shovkovskyi would like more, but not all Dynamo players fulfill his tasks, hence the lack of results.
I don’t understand when people say that Shovkovskyi can’t reach the players. Why should he have to reach out to them? Footballers have valid contracts; they want to achieve something in their careers. Oleksandr Volodymyrovych gives them some information, sets them up, and they need to show commitment.
