Former Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Denis Oleinik commented on his transfer from Finnish SIK to Vorskla Poltava, which was officially announced the other day.
“I always wanted to return to Ukraine, and when I had such an opportunity, I could not help but take advantage of it. And it's good that in such a difficult time for our country, I have the opportunity to be here.
I immediately decided for myself that I would leave. I understood that it would be difficult to do this, because the SIC did not want to let me go (Oleynik has been playing for the Finnish club since 2018, scoring 29 goals in 111 matches - ed.) — I was an important player for the team, and there are still difficult matches ahead in the Conference League. But the president of the SIK did a lot for my transition to Vorskla. He understood my situation and I am grateful to him for that.
There were practically no doubts, because if I had not accepted such an offer, I don’t know how I would feel about myself. Moreover, I understand that in the future such an offer would no longer exist.
I did everything in my power to move to Vorskla. They didn't want to let me go. It was not easy to break out of SIK. But my strong desire made this transfer possible,” Oleinik said on the air of the Vacko Live Youtube channel.
