"Alexandria" midfielder Artur Avaghimyan spoke about his attitude to the resumption of the UPL on August 23 and the suspension of matches in case of an air alert.
"I thank our military for the fact that we have the opportunity to train and hope that the UPL matches will take place as planned.
But, of course, there are fears, just like all people who are now in Ukraine. The question is very controversial. The war had a great impact on football in our country. Currently, no one can give security guarantees during the match. It is very difficult.
It is not clear from the reason for the air alarm. If I'm running 1v1 with a goalkeeper and I'm anxious, what should I do? Run for cover? Run to score? Or another moment: with the standard, the ball has already been served, it flies into the net, and at this time the siren sounds, is the goal counted or not? Many controversial questions that really have no answer.
But the most important thing is security guarantees, which no one can give for obvious reasons. Who will be responsible if something happens? We see that rockets are flying at houses, at shopping centers, and everywhere at the moment. Footballers are people too: of course, everyone talks and thinks about it. There are fears and different opinions about this.
I really hope that our fighters will defeat the enemy and all this will end very soon. We believe in the Armed Forces," Avaghimyan said.
