Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced yesterday that his country will transfer 39 LAV II ACSV infantry support combat vehicles to Ukraine to fight the occupying Russian army.
LAV II ACSV (Armored Combat Support Vehicle) is a new Canadian armored infantry support combat vehicle. The production of LAV II ACSV began recently - in 2020.
Canada's plan is for these vehicles to form the backbone of the country's army combat support fleet and be used in a wide range of operations, including disaster relief.
Canadian armored personnel carriers will be delivered to Ukraine by the end of summer. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive special versions of the ACSV - with bottoms reinforced against mines and equipped with machine guns. Information about the upcoming deliveries has already been confirmed by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov.
