The Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) rejected Russia's appeals to ban clubs and national teams from international tournaments. Thus, Russian teams will not be able to participate in the European Cups, UEFA Nations League, European U-21 Championship, Women's Euro 2022 and Women's World Cup 2023 qualifiers next season.

The decision to remove Russian clubs and national teams from the 2022/23 international season was made by UEFA on May 2 due to Russia's large-scale military aggression against Ukraine. "Zenith", "Dynamo", "Sochi" and CSKA filed appeals against this decision, intending to seek the restoration of their rights to participate in tournaments.

The Russian Football Union also filed its appeal. They were all rejected.

In the early morning of February 24, Russia launched a missile attack and aerial bombardment of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has been going on for the 142nd day.
