Now the former Dnipro-1 midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk, who became a player of the English Brentford the day before yesterday, was one step away from moving to the Belgian Anderlecht. This was announced by the agent of the 18-year-old football player Anton Astafiev. According to him, the then Anderlecht head coach Vincent Kompany was interested in the services of the young Ukrainian talent.
“It was not just about interest from the club, we had a specific offer from Anderlecht. We talked with the management, at that time we talked with the head coach Vincent Kompany, who then led the team.
Unfortunately, after the end of the season, Anderlecht changed their coach. And, above all, it was the desire of the head coach and the interest of the Company to see Yarmolyuk in their team.
They really wanted to see a Ukrainian in the main team, they counted on him. Everything went to the fact that Yarmolyuk would move to Anderlecht, we were literally one step away from such a transfer. And it would have taken place if it were not for the change of the head coach of this club. Therefore, unfortunately, the deal fell through at the last moment.
We did a very large amount of work, communicated with Anderlecht over the past year, perhaps more, they carefully studied Yegor, watched his games for Dnipro-1, the youth teams of Ukraine. At the moment, I can only wish success to Yegor, he is really a great talent, he will definitely succeed in England, ”said Astafiev.
