Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu summed up the preparation of his team for the new football season.
"We played the last training match before the start of the season (against Antwerp last Friday, - 1:2, - editor's note), and for almost three months we have been constantly on the road, on the move. But, in addition to football, the players of our team, in a sense, fulfilled their civic duty: with these charity matches, they rallied the Ukrainians who left their home, their country. Wherever we were, Ukrainians gathered around the team in large numbers, it was exciting.
In addition, with these matches, Ukrainian football players constantly reminded people that unthinkable atrocities still occur in Ukraine and must be stopped.
Well, now we are waiting for the beginning of the season. The Champions League is a completely different story. Preparing for this start, we had to maintain the competitive rhythm with all our might, because the last time we felt it was back in December. Thanks to matches with good opponents, we tried to maintain a high level of preparation.
On the other hand, everything happened in rather difficult conditions, because we traveled almost non-stop. We had to travel around cities, countries, from plane to bus and so on... It's hard! Beautiful, but hard. And during the season, I would prefer to have a stable base. In any case, I would like to play all our Champions League home matches in one city, ”the Romanian edition of Arges-Sport quotes Lucescu as saying.
