"People in Poland are really amazing in this respect. Your reaction and help to my country, your hospitality... Iga Shviontek organized this event, she helps Elina Svitolinia and her foundation to raise funds for children and youth from Ukraine. It's amazing.

This is a personal choice of other athletes. People live in their peaceful world, everything is in order for them, but they do not know our world. The war changed everything in my life. Now I am here in Krakow to spread the word that this can happen to anyone.

I dedicate my time to participate in this charity event to help my countrymen, my country. It is about raising awareness of the situation in the world.

The war continues, but we cannot give up. Soldiers at the front, like ordinary people in Ukraine, work hard to keep our country alive and functioning.

The sports community needs to come together and spread the right message, raise awareness. Yes, we can help in this situation to finally stop the war.

I have seen many initiatives to help Polish footballers, including Robert Lewandowski. Especially our Polish friends are helpful and well-disposed towards my country. Thank you very much for that," Shevchenko said.
