Sergey Puchkov: “Many teams in the new Ukrainian championship will play away from home. This equalizes the chances of rivals for

Famous Ukrainian coach Sergey Puchkov in an interview "TEAM1" told what he thinks about the championship of Ukraine of the 2022/23 season, which, according to preliminary information, should start on the 20th of August, despite the ongoing war.

Sergei Puchkov

- In your opinion, will it be possible to hold a full-fledged championship in Ukraine?

- It is very difficult to answer this question, because there is a war going on in the country. But there is great hope for our soldiers, on whom our security depends. Now it is important to start, and then we will see. At least I would like to see football in our stadiums again. Let it be Western Ukraine for now, but the very fact of the resumption of competitions is encouraging.

- Can the upcoming season become the most unpredictable since independence?

- It is quite possible, because many teams will play outside the home, even if the fans are not yet allowed into the stands, their own stadium has its own stadium. In addition, many teams have lost qualified performers, which to a certain extent equalizes the teams' chances of success.

How much will the UPL level fall due to the current situation in the country?

- The fact that the level of competition will drop is undeniable. In addition, it is not a fact that, psychologically, all players will be ready to think only about football. Many have families for which the players will worry. Yes, and provocations can occur at any time. And I have already said that many strong performers have left Ukraine, first of all, this concerns foreigners. But nothing. We have no choice but to believe in the best.
