Famous Ukrainian coach Ihor Yavorskyi in an interview "TEAM1" told what he expects from the championship of Ukraine in the 2022/23 season.
Ihor Yavorskyi— In your opinion, will it be possible to hold a full-fledged championship in Ukraine?
— I have no doubt that joint efforts will allow us to hold a tournament in the elite division at a high level. Convinced that all matches should take place in Ukraine, then the participating teams will be in the same conditions. Laureates should be determined solely on the basis of sportsmanship!
As for the desire of our representatives in the European Cups and to play most of their matches in the UPL in neighboring countries, that is out of the question. If they already want to use the services of legionnaires on both fronts, then let them invite those who agree to play in Ukraine. You know, frankly, I'm more concerned about security guarantees, because the most valuable thing is human life.
— Can the upcoming season become the most unpredictable since independence?
- Sensations should not be expected. According to tradition, "Gold" will be played by "Dynamo" and "Shakhtar", "Bronze" will be fought by "Zorya", "Vorskla" and "Dnipro-1". Kryvbas, Oleksandria and Rukh will try to compete with them.
— How much will the UPL level fall due to the current situation in the country?
- The retreat can be predicted, however, most teams were left without their legionnaires who were in leading roles. It will be quite difficult to find an equal replacement for them, as well as for those Ukrainians who decided to find employment abroad. However, the participants will try to compensate for these personnel losses with a huge desire to demonstrate everything they are capable of. After all, I believe in our youth, they should take full advantage of the chance to loudly declare themselves among the elite of Ukrainian football.
