Semi-automatic offside technology to be used in UEFA Super Cup match for the first time

The 2022 UEFA Super Cup match will be the first to feature a semi-automatic offside detection system. In the future, it will be used in the group stage of the Champions League, according to the official website of UEFA.

"UEFA is constantly looking for new technological solutions to improve the quality of the game and help the referees," said Roberto Rosetti, head of the UEFA Refereeing Committee. “This innovative technology will allow VAR teams to determine offside positions faster and more accurately, helping to maintain the rhythm of the game and the consistency of decisions made.”

The new system will work thanks to special cameras capable of tracking 29 different points on the body of each player. A total of 188 tests have been held since 2020, including all matches of the Champions League last season, the Women's Champions League play-offs, the women's Euro 2022 finals, as well as finals of other club competitions.

The 2022 UEFA Super Cup match will take place on August 10 in Helsinki. The winners of the Champions League and the Europa League last season - Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt, respectively, will play in it.

    Давно пора.
Мені шкода тих лайнсменів, що бігають не у природній спосіб полубоком і з вивернутою головою.
