Tamara Badashvili, Deputy General Director of the broadcaster Setanta Sports, spoke about the negotiations with the UPL clubs regarding the creation of a single television pool for broadcasting matches of the Ukrainian championship.
“At this stage, we are waiting for the final decision. We are glad that most clubs share the content and format of the project that we proposed.
It is important for us to make proposals to the Premier League and clubs about a single package that will be beneficial both by the general rules of the game and by unified communication. We are glad that the expectations of the majority of clubs coincided with our proposal and the Premier League participants agree with the format of work that we proposed.
It is important that you can watch the Ukrainian Premier League from anywhere in the world. At this stage, Setanta Sports is broadcasting in 14 countries in Europe and Asia, in addition, the income received from foreign broadcasts will be used to support Ukrainian clubs and the entire Premier League.
Despite all the difficulties, Setanta Sports is already ready to take on the responsibility of broadcasting the Ukrainian Premier League both in the country and abroad and to enable millions of foreigners, as well as millions of Ukrainians, to watch the matches of Ukrainian clubs.
One of the prerequisites for this was the decision to show the matches of Dynamo and Zorya in European competitions. Setanta Sports paid a hefty sum to buy the rights to broadcast these matches, and we are very happy that it got a good response in Ukraine. These matches alone were watched by 200,000 viewers on the setantasports.com OTT platform,” Badashvili said.
