Austrian fans praised their team for a good game, but are disappointed that Sturm couldn't beat Dynamo and dropped out of the Champions League. However, the Austrians admit that with such a weak game, both teams would not have had any chance against Benfica, which is really impressive at the start of the season. The Austrians, without much aggression or irritation, argue that Dynamo will not be able to get into the group stage. No matter how Sturm could do it in the confrontation with Benfica. There are also many discussions about why it is impossible to say that football (and sports in general) is out of politics, because it is also a propaganda tool, especially for countries such as the Russian Federation.
Claus: By a certain point, everything was going very well for Sturm. I even thought that we could put the squeeze on Dynamo and win by 2-3 goals in regular time. Unfortunately, the team did not have enough freshness to play just as well in extra-times. The goal conceded and sent off were not mandatory. We relaxed in defense, and then an overly brutal foul — two mistakes that decided the fate of the match. We could have played better, so there is no one to blame now.
Ubel: Instead of winning and advancing to the next round, Sturm loses and relegates to the Europa League. It's a shame, because happiness was so possible.
Jockl: All the same, Benfica will destroy Dynamo. The Ukrainians may rejoice, but with such a game they will not be able to beat the Portuguese. In my opinion, Sturm generally played better in this pair, but our team lacked banal luck. First, the Ukrainians were lucky in the first match, and then in the second leg. Sometimes it happens.
AufKreta: All journalists claimed that the weak point of Dynamo is the physical form. But it turned out that everything was exactly the opposite. The fact that the Ukrainians did not play between matches with Sturm, but earlier with Fenerbahce, played into their hands. They were fresher, that's why they put the squeeze on our team in extra times. It is our own fault that we did not use our chances and could not win after 90 minutes.
StorniA: Nothing bad happened. We flew out now, but we could fly out from Benfica. This does not change anything, because in any case, Sturm will already play in the group stage of the Europa League. The downside is that we did not earn 5 million euros from the playoffs. The advantage is that we can safely prepare for the Europa League, which now starts in the fall. This should help Sturm perform better in the league in August.
DerStegi: Dynamo has no chance in matches with Benfica, definitely not with such a game. At first, the Ukrainians were the favorites of the confrontation with us, but as a result, only with the help of luck and the strong play of the goalkeeper, they were able to reach the next round. You can compare how Benfica played in a parallel match with Midtjylland, playing somewhere at the level of Sturm.
Brenner: I liked the game, but the opponent was too weak, even if we gave them so many problems. With such a game, we have no place in the Champions League. At best, we would have fought for third place. I think that in the Europa League, Sturm has much more opportunities to perform well and even reach the playoffs later to play in European competitions in the spring.
Framoni: Sturm played well most of the match. In the attack, from time to time, again, there was a lack of accuracy, and I would also like to note that we had many erroneous decisions, due to which the attacks did not end in goals. Already from the 70th minute, it was clear that we most likely had no chances in extra time. The game was very tiring, and the Ukrainians did everything to bring the match to extra times. We will be able to perform successfully in the Europa League this year! Of this I am sure.
Sunshine: "Dynamo" managed to get very scared, but "Storm" did not have enough strength to finish off the opponent. We were close to reaching the playoffs, but we also have to admit that the team needs to work day and night on the implementation of chances. Otherwise, all this will continue to look just as pointless. We create many chances, the opponents start to be afraid of us, and then they realize that we are not able to realize our chances, after which they go on the counterattack and score a goal.
Knorpel: The key point is the removal. Sturm would definitely have the opportunity to score a second goal, but when your team is tired and then forced to play with ten men, this will definitely affect the game. Silly deletion, in which there was no point. Aggression must be shown in the game, and not waving your legs like a karateka. I hope that Sarkaria will be fined for this.
Hirnlos: I would just like to remind you that many managed to "bury" Sturm after the first match against Dynamo. The second leg proved that there are always chances, especially if you are not playing against Bayern or Liverpool. The game of the team has changed for the better this week. In no case would we have played in the Champions League, Benfica is too strong. In the Europa League, there is hope to play well this season.
Isaso: It's a pity. After the score became 1:0, there was an exciting game that kept everyone in suspense until the last minute. Sturm could have won, but didn't convert their chances. The Ukrainians played poorly today, but their implementation is at the highest level. The group stage of the Europa League is quite suitable for Sturm. In any case, this is not enough for the Champions League. Benfica would have beaten Sturm without any problems, and now they are beating Dynamo without any problems.
Alois: Due to the current geopolitical situation, I think it's great that Dynamo plays in the Champions League at all, and even got into the playoffs. I would like to wish good luck to the Ukrainians in the confrontation with Benfica. Dynamo is weaker, but one can imagine what a charge of positive emotions the Ukrainians would get if they could get into the group round.
Werny: I think it's great that military refugees were allowed into the stadium today for free. I was one of those who dreamed of getting into the game, but could not get a ticket. But I was pleased to see smiles on the faces of Ukrainians who had to flee from the war. But they also do not play in the group stage of the Champions League yet, they have to play against Benfica in a confrontation in which they are definitely not favorites.
Letho: And I won't be surprised if Dynamo beat Benfica and go further. At first, everyone thought that Fenerbahce were stronger and had to win, but the senseless withdrawal helped Dynamo to go further. In our pair, everything was also decided by a red card, which allowed the Ukrainians to control the game. But also Dynamo could have been knocked out of the Champions League, if you play a little more accurately in attack. In matches with Benfica, no one believes in Ukrainians, but they are able to surprise everyone again.
Raquel: I am glad that at today's match I threw 15 euros into the donation box and helped the Ukrainians a little. But I am even more glad that there were many such people, and together we raised a lot of money for the needs of refugees. Football has an important social function, we should not forget about it. While the war is going on in Ukraine, we must help the Ukrainians and not forget how hard it is for them, even if this has already affected our lives.
Graal: Football is out of politics? This is absolute nonsense! Most of the clubs in Eastern Europe, and especially in Russia, appeared thanks to politics. CSKA is the club of the Red Army, Lokomotiv Moscow is the club of railway workers, Dynamo is the club of the KGB, and Spartak is the "people's club" of the opposition. This also applies to other Eastern European countries, even to the GDR, for example. East German champion Dynamo Dresden was under the auspices of the Stasi. Energi Cottbus, Lokomotiv Leipzig, and all that... All these names were not chosen by chance. Politicians did not just support football, but to divide people into different groups, and then use it for their own purposes. Denying this is a sign that a person does not know history. Sports and football are certainly very closely related to politics! Therefore, the entry of Dynamo into the group round during the war would be, first of all, a great political success for Ukraine.
Andy: "Storm" has a huge potential and it's nice. But the team lacks quality reinforcement. We had no one to release as a replacement so that he could at least play at the level of the main squad. If there were such players, I have no doubt that we could beat Dynamo with a big score.
Megatron: Aggressive pressing tires the team, especially when the referee whistles too actively in one direction. In addition, the unconditional pressure in the attack, which Sturm practiced today, cannot last more than 70-75 minutes. Even if you coach a club like Manchester City. "Storm" spent too much energy in these 70 minutes. Toward the end of regular time, the opponent showed a certain advantage in physical form. In fact, even then it was clear how it would end. It was necessary to score the second goal at any cost, and not agree to extra times. But Sturm said goodbye to the Champions League with its head held high.
Otto: Great game against a technically stronger team. I also want to rejoice for the Ukrainians in these difficult times for them. They deserved to go further in the sum of two matches. I wish them to get into the Champions League group stage, but I understand that they will most likely lose to the Portuguese.
