As expected, the start date of the final part of the 2022 World Cup has been changed. The FIFA Council Bureau approved the decision to slightly change the calendar of the World Cup, and now the tournament will start one day earlier than previously planned - on Sunday, November 20, according to the official website of FIFA.
This decision was made so that the hosts, the Qatar national team, would play in the opening match of the 2022 World Cup. As a result, on November 20, immediately after the opening ceremony of the World Cup, the opening match of the World Cup will take place - Qatar - Ecuador (beginning at 18:00 Kyiv time).
It was previously planned that the championship will begin on November 21 with the Senegal-Netherlands match. The date of this match has remained unchanged, but it will start at 18:00 (Kyiv time), and not at 12:00, as it was before the last decision of FIFA.
