The Brazilian forward of Vorskla Marlison (who previously played for Metalist 1925) said that he would leave Ukraine if there was a threat to his safety:
“Of course, we must always put health and safety first. But this is the best contract I have signed in my life. This is an opportunity to defend the shirt of one of the largest clubs in Ukraine, in which foreigners, especially Brazilians, are highly valued. Compared to what I earned in Brazil, now I earn five times more.
I had a lot of communication with a lot of people. I gathered my family, managers and people from the club and announced my decision. They were shocked when they found out what I went through. But then I explained that this transition would be very important for me.
I am aware of what the country is going through, the conflict is not over yet. I wouldn't come here to risk my life. Of course, it's a little scary, but I've been here for a month and still haven't seen anything that could disturb.
I left a warning to the leaders of Vorskla: if we have news that there is a risk of attack here, I will call a taxi, drive 4 kilometers to Slovakia, cross the border and from there I will take the first plane to Brazil.
Recall that the Poltava "Vorskla" is based in Uzhgorod for the period of the war.
