Igor Surkis to Oleksandr Usyk: “You won for the sake of all of Ukraine at a very important time”

The whole country was waiting for this battle, despite the late time of the live broadcast from Saudi Arabia, which Alexander himself made public and free for all Ukrainians who supported him from Uzhgorod to the front lines in the south, east and north of our country.

Recall that, with the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian army on our land, Alexander joined the ranks of the defense, and then founded the Usyk Foundation, a charitable foundation whose goal is to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ukrainians who suffered from Putin's aggression. During the broadcast of the fight, the Oleksandr Usyk Foundation organized a charity fundraiser to purchase 100 cars for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The rematch itself was not easy for Alexander, who began to prepare for the fight at the end of March. Despite the good preparation of the opponent, Usyk managed to turn the tide of the fight, which lasted all 12 rounds and won by a split decision of the referee. The Ukrainian flag began to fly over the ring again, and the champion belts remained with the Ukrainian.

Usyk added one more vacant title to his four WBA Super, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles - a special title founded by the authoritative magazine The Ring.

On behalf of FC Dynamo Kyiv, Oleksandr Usyk was congratulated by club president Ihor Surkis:

Dear Alexander!

On behalf of all Dynamo players, I congratulate you on your well-deserved victory!

Tonight, without exaggeration, the whole of Ukraine was rooting for you. You once again demonstrated courage, fortitude, an iron character, the ability to endure, a great will to win and responsibility not only for yourself, but also for your country - those qualities that the Ukrainian people are famous for and proud of.

You have prepared for the fight, the victory in which is the absolute pinnacle in this sport, despite all the circumstances and the emotional background from the terrible events that, unfortunately, continue to occur in our country.

Although before you dedicated all victories to Ukraine, proudly raising the yellow-blue flag over the ring after each new achievement, this time it is more than just a victory in the ring. You won for the sake of all of Ukraine at a very important time, and this achievement should be a turning point when all Ukrainians will be sure that no one and nothing will interfere with our main victory in the struggle for the freedom of our country.

On behalf of FC Dynamo Kyiv we wish you steely health, inexhaustible strength and stay longer on the boxing peak, glorifying Ukraine to the whole world!

Sincerely,

President of FC Dynamo (Kyiv)

Igor Surkis
