Midfielder of Dynamo Kyiv and the Ukrainian national team Oleksandr Karavaev said that Ihor Surkis or Mircea Lucescu never forbade the players of the Kyiv club to leave for the Ukrainian national team.
- At the time when Dynamo had already started playing a series of charity matches in Europe, an unpleasant episode occurred - Lucescu did not want to let the players go to the national team. The scandal was extinguished, but the residue remained. How did you, Dynamo players, feel then?
- We then once talked about it among ourselves. They knew it was just a misunderstanding. We did not come to an agreement on a separate date, because we had scheduled matches, and the team decided to gather. Finally, we agreed on what should have been done in the first place.
It seems to me that this was more inflated, because then no one paid attention to it. It was more of a misunderstanding.
- Miron Markevich even called on the Dynamo players to leave the club without permission, because it is more important to play for the national team.
— I wouldn't even comment on it. It makes no sense. Why say such a thing? No one refused to leave for the national team, as they wrote. Everyone understands what a team is. There has never even been such a conversation that the management or the coach forbade us to go to the national team when the call comes.
Then they immediately explained to us - you will go to the national team, but you need to play these matches [with the club]. It just happened that way, and they blew it out of it. Nevertheless, we still went to the national team in the end.
