Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has been named the UEFA Player of the Year for the 2021/2022 season by the UEFA Technical Committee.
The Best Player Announcement Ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 25 in Istanbul. In addition to the 34-year-old Frenchman, the top three also included Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.
Real Madrid won the Champions League last season. Benzema played 12 matches in the tournament, scoring 15 goals and making 1 assist, and became the top scorer.
