Oleg Fedorchuk: “If Kucher drew conclusions after the match with AEK, then Dynamo remained the same after Benfica”

Coach Oleg Fedorchuk explained why Dnipro-1 defeated Dynamo in the 2nd round of the UPL (3:0).

“I can congratulate Yevgeny Krasnikov and Oleksandr Kucher - they carefully analyzed the matches for entering the Europa League. Against Dynamo Kyiv, Dnipro-1 played exactly the way it should play against AEK. And this is the recipe for the success of Dnipro in every match against direct competitors and in European competitions.

Let me explain with an example. When you have a set of parts for the designer, but there is no picture of what they can be assembled into, fantasy turns on. With "Lego" you can assemble an airplane, a car or a house. This is exactly what starting to work with a new team is like.

You study the players that you have, and then you already draw a conclusion what tactical scheme and way of playing the game is within your power.

So, Metalist could afford to play football "by strangulation" with a total playing advantage and constant possession of the ball with Baluli, Peixoto, Pobleta and Casares. They even had Banada, who played so much for Oleksandria, on the bench.

When Metalist was forced to rejuvenate, he successfully played against Rukh on fast attacks and won in Lviv with 45% ball possession. This is an example of adaptive statistics, a pragmatic approach to one's capabilities.

The same is true of the current Dnepr-1.

He will be one of the favorites of the season in Ukraine, however, 2-3 matches in one round, even in the domestic arena, he will have to be able to play on counterattacks. Because, having Gutsulyak, Nazarenko, Blanco and high-speed flank defenders, it’s a sin not to use this advantage.

When Dnipro-1 came out to play against AEK, the problem of the Ukrainian representative in European competitions was that he undertook to lead the game. Even missing the first, even losing the first match.

And it was possible to use the option of playing on counterattacks and thus have quite real chances in the second leg against an opponent far from ideal.

Dnipro-1 spent a lot of energy on preparatory work in European competitions. If the opponent spent 2-3 passes and 3-5 seconds on passes to Dyurcho or Altman, then the Ukrainians rolled the ball, looked for their neighbor, and went through the pass. This is the strategy of a strong team. But the strongest team is always adaptive.

In the match against Dynamo, we saw that the potential of Dnipro-1 is quite high. With a significant advantage of the people of Kiev in possession of the ball and dangerous attacks, Kucher's wards carried out their attacks much more sharply. Almost everyone ended up with a blow one way or another. And this is what determines the sharpness of the game.

Yes, it is undeniable that Dynamo are more tired after three rounds of European competition and devastated after losing to Benfica. However, even this cannot explain the result of the match. It's just that if Kucher and Krasnikov drew conclusions after the match with AEK, then Dynamo remained the same after Benfica.

Lucescu has ways to change the game even with these shots. However, by all appearances, it took just such a resounding defeat to change. Dynamo lost only three times in the Premier League with this score. This should shake him up. Well, even lemons make lemonade. There must be some benefit from such a defeat, ”Fedorchuk said.
