Dnepr-1 - AZ - 0:1. After the match. Gorodov: "Before the goal, there were practically no chances at our gates"

Last Thursday, Dnipro-1 lost 0:1 to Dutch AZ in the nominally home match of the 1st round of the group stage of the Conference League. The meeting was held in Slovak Kosice. Your attention to the post-match comments of the team coaches.

Valeriy Gorodov, Dnipro-1 coach: “I have already said that our rivals are a very qualified team. Their individual skill is at a high level. Before the goal, our goal had practically no chances, but in the decisive episode, our defenders did not work well in defense.

After the goal it was already hard. We tried to do something on the attack, but it didn't work out. We won a lot of riding martial arts, but we didn't have rebounds. This affected the result.

Dovbik game? He tried very hard. He needed to save a lot of balls for the team, but little came of it. All players tried their best. This is only the first game in the group round of the Conference League for us. We have to analyze the match and move on."

Pascal Jansen, AZ head coach: “The game was not easy, as we expected. We had to try to create space and it was difficult for us to play both with the ball and without the ball. In the second half, we increased the speed, and we had almost the only chance that we managed to convert. Then there was more space, because Dnepr-1 had to move away from its defensive game. I can't say that we showed a perfect game today. We did not succeed in everything, but the main thing is that we managed to win.

Obviously, we can play better, but we must understand that Dnepr-1 made this game difficult for us. Like I said, we have to do better on the ball and pass accuracy. But I told the players that even in such a difficult game, when not everything goes in our favor, we still have to achieve results. The most important thing at this moment is to score three points and move on, especially since we have a difficult calendar ahead.”
