UEFA has rejected requests from three British clubs - Chelsea, Manchester City and Rangers - to play the national anthem in honor of Queen Elizabeth II ahead of the Champions League matches to be held in the UK this week, according to the Daily Mail.
According to the source, the mentioned clubs applied to UEFA with such a request last week after the news of the Queen's death. But the organization declined the requests to maintain a low-key atmosphere.
At the same time, it is noted that the Rangers are ready to disobey the UEFA verdict and perform the national anthem after a minute of silence in memory of the Queen.
Recall that the anthem of the tournament will not be played at all Champions League matches taking place in the UK this week.
