After a chaotic start to the match, the Scots managed to seize the advantage and, right up to the break, exerted tangible pressure on the gates of the Ukrainian national team. However, frankly, the home team did not create scoring chances. Of all their attacks in the first half of the match, only one can be noted that, in the 22nd minute of the meeting, ended with Armstrong's cannon strike from the penalty area - Trubin hit the ball with great difficulty. Otherwise, the Ukrainians, in general, coped with the attacking pressure of the opponent, and, as a result, the first half ended without goals.
The second half of the meeting was also marked by the advantage of the Scottish team. Armstrong threatened the Blue-Yellows' goal again - he shot twice from outside the penalty area. But the home team was closest to success in the 63rd minute, when the ball hit the crossbar after Adams' shot. Moreover, just a minute later, the same Adams shot from some four meters, and Trubin rescued the Ukrainian team on this groove. Finally, in the 68th minute of the meeting, Armstrong hit his head from six meters - fortunately, past the goal.
And on the 70th, the Scottish team achieved their goal. During the attack with a second pace, McGinn beat Bondar in the penalty area of the Ukrainian national team and sent the ball exactly into the bottom corner of Trubin's goal with a shot from 12 meters - 1:0.
Moreover, eight minutes later, Tierney delivered a most dangerous shot from the penalty area, and the goalkeeper of the Ukrainian national team saved his team from the second goal with great difficulty. But in the 80th minute of the match, the Scots nevertheless developed their success - Dykes, after a corner kick, won the fight in the air against Malinovsky and sent the ball into the far corner of the goal with a header - 2:0. And in the 87th minute, the same Dyke set the final score of the match, once again hitting the gates of the Ukrainian national team after a corner - 3:0.
As a result, the current standings of the teams in the group took the following form (all teams played 4 matches each):
