The former head coach of Kyiv "Dynamo" Oleksandr Khatskevich got a job in Cyprus. The new team of the Belarusian mentor became the Karmiotissa club. The terms of cooperation are still unknown.

During two and a half years of work in Dynamo, it became clear that Khatskevich is not a highly qualified coach. He is a good person, but that is not enough to be successful in football. He needs the quality of players to claim a result. And there was no money for qualitative strengthening in Dynamo. There were problems with the acquired legionnaires, they could not adapt to the coach's schemes and requirements. The exceptions were foreigners who had mastered the Russian language - Kendzora, Verbich, and to some extent Pivarich.
There was no desire to learn or change. The coaching staff was formed from Dynamo specialists. The Spaniard Eduardo Docampo simply supplemented this line, because he worked with Khatskevich in the Belarus national team. He cannot be called a specialist "from the side".
Dynamo with the Belarusian coach did not win either the championship or the Cup, and also did not go to the Champions League. In the European Cups, everything ended at the stage of the first serious opponent. In the UPL, the team not only did not challenge Shakhtar, but also questioned the second place.
Despite the failure at Dynamo, Khatskevich gained an image in these two years. The reputation of a mentor who changed generations gave way to youth, taking on all the negativity during the transition period. The further failure of Oleksiy Mykhailichenko created even more for Khatskevich the image of a coach who became a hostage of circumstances.
It was necessary to wait a little and get a good option to continue his career after Dynamo. Given the problems with coaches in Poland, Hatzkiewicz could lead almost every team there. Grand teams from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Bulgarian, Romanian clubs, national teams of a certain level. Against this background, the Belarusian would hide all his shortcomings and could work for quite a long time.
But Oleksandr Mykolayovych quite quickly chose the option with Rotor. The team from Volgograd was in the lead in the first league of Russia and, due to the start of the coronavirus pandemic, received a ticket to the RPL. There, all the shortcomings of Khatskevich, the coach, became apparent very quickly. The team had neither a game nor a score. The main reason is the quality of the footballers. Rotor could do nothing against an opponent with a better composition. There were no financial opportunities to strengthen the team. For a while, everything was in the zone of survival matches, and then it ended in retirement. The rotor did not hold in the RPL.
Khatskevich lost the halo of a coach who worked for Dynamo for two years, revealed Mykolenko, Bushchan and cleaned up the team. He became a loser who failed loudly in Russia. After that, finding a good job is almost impossible.
There were talks about Khatskevich's possible employment in Ukraine. Among the possible candidates are Zorya and Kolos, but both clubs bet on other specialists. Probably, they understood there that Khatskevich would not be able to give them anything with the existing squads. And despite the fact that the coach has a Belarusian passport, after working in Russia it is not so easy to find a place in our football. All further teams after Dynamo will be a step down both in football and financial terms.
It was no longer possible to go through the invitations. It was thought that Khatskevich would get a job in Pakhtakor, where his close friend and associate Maksym Shatskikh got the position of sports director. But "Bai" very quickly led the team himself.
The choice settled on an outsider of the championship of Cyprus. All this is very similar to the path of Artem Milevskiy, who speculated on the name of Dynamo, getting contracts for himself. Mila was taken to the club not because of his football qualities and professionalism, but only because he was a star of Dynamo and the national team of Ukraine. Actually, this is also the case with Khatskevich, who was invited only because he played and trained at Dynamo. For a modest club from Cyprus, this is a pretty good opportunity to attract attention.
I do not believe in the success of Oleksandr Mykolayovych on the island. The club has a very mediocre squad even against the background of the local championship. This is a salt pan with a lot of Legionnaires. At the start of the season, Karmiotissa has collected only three points in four matches and is already near the relegation zone. In order to put something together and succeed in this situation, you need to have incredible flair. Instead, Hatzkiewicz joins the team in the middle of the season, with no experience working so far from home. Language, adaptation, transfer campaign. Shatskyi's long-time assistant is out of the access zone...
Not so long ago, Dmytro Mykhaylenko went to Cyprus to join a team of a slightly higher level (Paphos even leads the championship). Somewhere the circumstances were similar - in the middle of the season, during the crisis. Nothing good came of it. Football Cyprus is very difficult to become successful so easily.
For Khatskevich, it was important now not to make a mistake. Take a long-term project with the opportunity to realize yourself. If you don't succeed in Karmiotis, getting a new challenge will be incredibly difficult.
