"Dynamo" newcomer Justin Lonwijk gave his first interview as a "white-blue" player immediately after signing the contract, sharing his emotions from the transition to the Kyiv club.
— Justin, what emotions are you feeling right now?
— I am very happy to join Dynamo. This is a big step for me. I am looking forward to the matches in the new team.
— Did this transfer come as a surprise to you or did you expect a change of club during the season?
— Of course, it was a little unexpected, because the summer transfer window was already closed in Denmark and many other countries. But in a few days I heard about interest from Dynamo. Since then, I have been anxiously waiting for this transfer to take place.
— What do you know about your new club, its history?
— I know that this is the greatest club in Ukraine, whose performances are always broadcast on TV - in the Champions League, Europa League. This is a club that always plays in the European Cups and has a very, very long history, as well as a lot of fans.
— You are looking forward to working under the leadership of an outstanding coach — Mircea Lucescu?
— Of course! He is a coach who has many achievements in football. A really great coach. I look forward to working under his leadership.
— Your main position on the field — in the center of midfield, but this season you are mostly on the attacking wing, in the winger position. Why did this happen?
— This happened because there were no players left in Vyborg with experience in this position. Therefore, I had to "close" this position. I am a creative midfielder and could move from the wing to the center and play my usual game.
— Have you followed the news about the war in Ukraine, about how the Ukrainian people defend their land?
- Yes, when the war started, it immediately became a big shock for everyone. I was in Denmark at the time, but I was following the news from Dutch channels. The war was talked about everywhere. It came as a big shock to everyone. I hope that things will improve and peace will return to Ukraine.
— Were you not afraid to move to a Ukrainian club, given that the war was going on?
— Of course, I thought about it. Yes, I know that the situation in the country is still difficult. But I talked a lot with people who are in Kyiv. Fortunately, the state of affairs in the capital is improving.
— What game number will you choose in "Dynamo"?
— I haven't decided yet. We need to see what numbers are currently available.
— Which player was your idol in the world of football?
— Since childhood, I admired Ronaldinho's game. Of those who are playing now, it is Paul Pogba. They, like me, are midfielders.
— What goals do you set for yourself at Dynamo?
— To become an important part of the team, to benefit it, to strengthen the midfield, to score goals. Progress, get better every day and successfully complete this season.
