Well-known Ukrainian journalist Artem Frankov told what he thinks about the prospects of the former head coach of the Ukrainian national team Andriy Shevchenko on the background of the news that he terminated his contract with Italian Genoa.

Artem Frankov

- Why do you think Shevchenko and Genoa terminated the contract? After all, a Ukrainian specialist could receive money and have a rest.

- I think that he plans to continue coaching. This signals that he has received some kind of offer. And he may be financially detrimental, but he sees some perspective. Or a compromise is reached with Genoa and not all the money is paid to him, but immediately.

I think he just agreed with Genoa to close this contract. Shevchenko did not have the right to negotiate with other teams, having a valid agreement. And the Italians wanted to save money that they had to pay.

- Should Shevchenko now return to coaching or, maybe, run for the presidency of the UAF, as the media write?

- The contract with Genoa did not prevent him from doing this. These rumors... I can't imagine. The only option is if the office of the president of Ukraine wants Shevchenko to become president of the UAF. But there is such a system and defense that it is unrealistic to get through there to the presidency.

The option with the presidency is real only if the political leadership of the country stakes on Shevchenko and provides appropriate support.

I would like him to have a good coaching option, but the termination of the contract with Genoa has nothing to do with the election of the President of the FFU.

— What did Shevchenko fail in Genoa?

— It is difficult to judge, there is not enough information. De Zerby headed Brighton and Mulder, who was Shevchenko's assistant, entered his headquarters. Many believe that in many ways the trip to Genoa was unsuccessful due to the weakness of Shevchenko's coaching staff. Where will Shevchenko's next coaching stop be? I can not imagine.
