Mariusz Lewandowski: “I am very worried about all Ukrainians, war is the worst thing that can be”

Former Shakhtar midfielder Mariusz Lewandowski on the Pitmen's Youtube channel commented on the friendly match between his Radomyak and Shakhtar and spoke about the war in Ukraine.

Mariusz Lewandowski

— You played for Shakhtar for many years, and today as a coach you played against the Donetsk team. What are the emotions and impressions?

“First of all, it’s very good to meet and see everyone. The friendly match we played turned out to be good for everyone. Many of Shakhtar's players play for the national team, so it's clear that this was not the first team. You can look at all the players fighting for the base. I could also look at my wards and draw conclusions.

- Which of your former colleagues did you have time to talk to?

- There is a doctor who was there before, Pyatov, many from the administration. It was very good to talk and meet with everyone.

— Ukraine is not a foreign country for you. How can you comment on what is happening?

- This does not even need comments, there are no words. I am very worried about all Ukrainians. We help as much as we can. I don't understand how something like this happens in such a world. War is the worst possible thing.

Nobody would want this to happen. Many people I know are fighting for the country to pass into the hands of the Ukrainians. It started a long time ago and I would like the war to stop.

- When the war had just begun, did you contact your friends in Ukraine? What did they say?

“Of course, I was very worried. I did not know what would happen tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Thought it wouldn't take that long. In general, it seemed that this was some kind of joke, and then everyone saw that this was a real war. He said that I could help: "Come with your families, with your children."

— What would you like to say to the Ukrainian people?

- Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!
