Roman Zozulya: “I refused all the clubs – I don’t care about football when there is a war in my country”

Ukrainian striker Roman Zozulya, known for his most active civic position and constant assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the fight against Russian invaders, spoke about a pause in his football career.

Roman Zozulya

“At the moment I am without a club. And, to be honest, now I'm not up to football. There were many offers from different clubs, but I turned them all down.

I often read the statements of Ukrainian football players that when they go to a match or a training session, their head switches a little and they forget about everything for an hour and a half. I couldn't do that.

Therefore, to all the teams that wanted to see me at their place, I said: guys, I can’t now. I don’t care about football when there is a war going on in my country, when people die.

Yes, the more I play, the more I can earn and help, donate, but so far I don’t even know when I will resume my career. And will I resume at all. Now, when there is a war going on in my country, I simply don’t have any motivation to play football,” Zozulya said in a comment to the Radio NV Youtube channel.
