Artem Frankov: “I am against firing Petrakov for the sake of firing him”

Well-known Ukrainian journalist Artem Frankov told whether it is necessary to change the coach of the Ukrainian national team after the League of Nations match with Scotland (0:0).

- The extension of the contract with Petrakov depends on what options are available to the UAF at the moment.

There are rumors about Rebrov, but I don't know what the terms of his contract with Al Ain are and when it ends. Now there is no need to rush anywhere - the national team still has a lot of time before the start of the selection for Euro 2024. I think that in this regard it is not necessary to force events and make some kind of hysteria with searches. Work calmly.

I would say that I assess Petrakov's work in the national team quite positively. The fact that we did not take first place is, well, unlucky. The Scottish national team, whatever one may say, is a decent enough team, okay, it is of an average level, but we don’t grab stars from the sky either.

We see the state in which Yaremchuk came to the national team, that Malinovsky is far from being in a masterpiece state. At the same time, Petrakov quite boldly let young players into the roster, we see that this team has certain prospects.

Dismissing for the sake of dismissing, and organizing reforms for the sake of reforms themselves - I am against such approaches.

How Petrakov behaved at the press conference - I think it's wrong. A professional should not allow himself such things. But okay, we have our own specifics. Petrakov takes a lot of things to heart, passes them through himself. He is all on the surface.

In order to replace him, the UAF leadership must be sure that after his departure it will receive more. Such confidence can only be instilled through negotiations and a clear readiness to make decisions. We do not have a queue of coaches.

I think that Ruslan Rotan still has to work in the youth team, it is too early for him to lead the first team. Moreover, he has just now achieved success and he needs to continue this work.

We do not consider foreigners. Plus, for us this issue is political, since we are at war. Well, and economic: I strongly doubt that the Football Federation will be able to pull a very serious economic contract. In terms of money, at least Petrakov's coaching staff is an economy class. They don't make big money.

According to Markevich: do you remember what a cry was raised about Lucescu's age when he came to Dynamo? Nothing that Markevich is 70 years old? Yes, this is an interesting option, but I am against considering a head coach without a coaching staff. Of course, with Miron Bogdanovich, whom I love and respect very much, it would be necessary to talk and discuss his vision so that there is a clear understanding.

Because he left with a grudge, he was scammed by the current leadership of the UAF. He expected that after Shevchenko he would be offered the post of head coach. He will have to ask for forgiveness for this kid, is the federation ready for this? Frankov asks.

Не потрібно ні Ротаня - він ще слабий, ні Маркевича - він вже слабий....
