UEFA responded to a request from the Russian media about the FNL's decision to integrate Crimean clubs into Russian tournaments.
“We kindly ask you to read the following decision adopted by the UEFA Executive Committee in December 2014:
As for the situation in Crimea, in accordance with the decision of the UEFA Extraordinary Commission dated August 22, 2014, the UEFA Executive Committee decided to ban Crimean clubs from participating in competitions organized by the Russian Football Union (RFU) from January 1. 2015 and that the region be considered a ‘special zone’ for football purposes until further notice,” UEFA said in a response.
