The disaster occurred in Chile, in the capital of this country - Santiago. During an open training session of the local Colo-Colo club, which took place at the Monumental Stadium, some of the fans decided to climb onto a metal structure that towered over the spectator seats.
Initially, this structure was intended for advertising banners, and simply could not cope with the total weight of the fans who climbed on it. As a result, at some point, the construction could not stand it and collapsed down along with the fans who were on it.
Worst of all, among the victims were both the fans who flew down, and those people who were below and were under attack.
