The management of Nottingham Forest is considering the candidacy of Rafael Benitez to replace head coach Steve Cooper, The Guardian reports.
The chair under the 42-year-old specialist finally faltered after a crushing defeat against "Leicester" (0:4), which became the fifth in a row for the team and dropped it to the bottom of the tournament table.
The club's owners splashed out in excess of £150m after upgrading in class, signing 23 new signings during the summer transfer window. Therefore, the unsuccessful results of the team leave Cooper's position in question. It is known that the owner of "Nottingham" Evangelos Marinakis is interested in the appointment of Benitez. The former Liverpool, Newcastle and Real Madrid manager remains out of a job after being sacked by Everton in January.
Former Burnley coach Sean Dyche is also on the list of candidates.
