French journalists reacted differently to the victory of Rennes in the Europa League match against Dynamo (2:1). Some believe that the Breton club dominated the entire match and deservedly scored three points, while Dynamo used the only chance to score a goal. Others believe that Rennes disappointed the fans, as they should have won much more confidently against such a weak opponent.
But everyone agrees that it was a very important victory, which has actually secured Rennes access to the Eurospring.
L'Equipe
“A good impulse for Rennes,” a journalist from the L’Equipe website believes that a victory over Dynamo can change a lot for the home team. After a draw with Fenerbahce, many felt disappointed, but Rennes still continues to fight for first place in the group. In addition, this time the team showed character, which it lacked in some other matches of this season.
- This is a victory that can change a lot in the near future. A few weeks ago, Rennes were disappointed after a draw against Fenerbahce (2:2). Then the team of Bruno Genesio could not show character. Now managed to do it. It was the Breton club that tried to win, so the goal in the last minutes was well deserved. A fair reward for the efforts made throughout the entire meeting.
The goal scored by Tsygankov looked strange against the background of the weak game of Dynamo. The Ukrainians played a frankly weak match, and did not deserve to take away a draw from France. The hero of the meeting was the 17-year-old forward, who scored the second goal of the season. He took advantage of the gross mistake of the Ukrainians in defense and calmly sent the ball into the goal. Rennes extend their unbeaten streak to 8 matches in all competitions (5 wins and 3 draws), and also continue to fight Fenerbahce for the first place in the group.
Ouest-France
“Thanks to the victory over Dynamo, Rennes actually secured access to the Eurospring,” writes a journalist from the Ouest-France website. He noted that the victory turned out to be too difficult, but Rennes will have a chance to correct themselves in front of the fans in the second leg against Dynamo. In which you also need to win, and this time more calmly.
- Thanks to this victory, Rennes is almost guaranteed to see Europe again in the spring, whether in the Europa League or the Conference League. In group B, the Breton club has the same number of points as the leader, Fenerbahce (7 points), who won on Thursday evening in Larnaca (2: 0). Bruno Genesio's wards will be able to prove next Thursday that they are stronger than Dynamo when they go to the second leg. But before that, they will play the long-awaited derby against Nantes on Sunday.
Despite the fact that the victory over Dynamo turned out to be difficult, and the second goal was scored in the last minutes, hardly anyone can say that Rennes did not deserve to score 3 points in this match. The Bretons dominated throughout the match, and Dynamo took the only chance to score a goal. It would be strange if the Ukrainians could draw. Fortunately, Rennes was able to pull out the victory.
Le Parisien
The journalists of the Le Parisien edition of the capital, quite expectedly, did not pay much attention to each game of the French teams in the Europa League and the Conference League, confining themselves to a general overview and headline. Despite the fact that Rennes eventually won, Le Parisien did not particularly praise the French club, as the journalists felt that Rennes should have won more confidently against such an opponent.
- Rennes actually secured their way out of the group after defeating Dynamo (2:1). 7 points after three rounds, which means that it is enough to win against the Ukrainians in the second match to qualify for the next round (provided that AEK does not win against Fenerbahce, which is unlikely to happen). But do not forget that the current Dynamo is a weak opponent. Without legionnaires, without truly home matches, without a normal life due to the Russian military invasion... It seemed that Rennes should win easily, but Dynamo found the strength to resist and even equalized the score. The home team actually managed to score the second goal at the very end of the game.
The Ukrainians organized the game well in defense and did not change anything after the missed goal, hoping for Rennes' mistake. Viktor Tsygankov managed to level the score, celebrating a goal against the background of 250 Ukrainians invited to the match. But Dynamo could not keep a draw. "Rennes" scored the second goal, thanks to the error of the Ukrainians in the defense, and won. The victory turned out to be unexpectedly difficult, but the main thing is that we managed to score 3 points.
