Bayer Leverkusen announced on its official website the beginning of cooperation with Xabi Alonso as the head coach of the team.
The 40-year-old Spaniard's contract runs until June 30, 2024. It is interesting that Alonso became only the second coach from Spain in the Bundesliga after Josep Guardiola.
Alonso's last place of work was the youth team of Real Sociedad, which he led from 2019.
After 8 rounds of the German championship, Bayer is in 17th place in the tournament table with five points.
