The head coach of Shakhtar Donetsk Igor Jovicevich, commenting on his team's victory over Kolos Kovalivka (3:0) in yesterday's match of the 8th round of the Ukrainian Championship, also touched upon the result of one of the parallel matches in which Dnipro-1 and " Ingulets” tied (2:2).
It should be noted that such results allowed the Pitmen to overtake Dnipro in the championship standings, which had been the sole leader before this round. Now both teams have the same number of points.
“In general, it was a tense match. We expected a tough game - and it happened. There were problems at the beginning of the first half, when not everything worked out the way we planned. However, some adjustments during the break helped. In the second half, we dominated, controlled the game, and I think we fully deserved this victory. We could score a couple more goals.
Plus, Dnipro-1 played a draw, which adds to our confidence in the fight for first place. This is the position we want to be in, and these are the ambitions that we do not hide. To do this, we must have the right mentality, improve our abilities and work every day to be on a high note. We can say that this is a very important victory, but it was earned, tense. The opponent is strong in defense and concedes little, but we played a good match today and deservedly won," Jovičević said after the match against Kolos.
