The goalkeeper of the Italian "Sampdoria" Nikita Contini-Baranovsky, who is a native of Cherkasy, became the hero of yesterday's match of his team with "Ascoli" in the 1/16 finals of the Italian Cup.
In the main and extra time of this meeting, the winner could not be identified - 2: 2, and the fate of a ticket to the next stage of the tournament was decided in a penalty shoot-out. The opponents showed enviable equality here too: after 10 blows, the winner was still not determined. But, in the end, it was Contini-Baranovsky's turn to shine: first he converted the penalty himself, and then parried the kick from the "point", thereby leading Sampdoria to the 1/8 finals of the Italian Cup.
Nikita Contini-Baranovsky was born in Cherkasy, but at the age of three he moved to Italy with his family. He is a student of Napoli. In this club, the goalkeeper is bound by a contract to this day, and in Sampdoria he has been on loan since the beginning of this season. Moreover, in the match against Ascoli, Contini-Baranovsky for the first time took a place at the gates of his current team.
