Honorary President of Dnipro-1 Yuriy Bereza commented on the early exit of his club to the playoffs of the Conference League.
“It is very important that, first of all, we made a good contribution to the country's coefficient in European competitions. In addition, it is pleasant that the personal rating has also been significantly increased. This is an illustration of how far our young club has come in 5 years. I once said that I want to hear the Champions League anthem at the Dnipro Arena. I think we are on the right track. I am very grateful to all like-minded people who believed in this project in 2017.
I want to thank the team, first of all, for their character and fighting qualities. Despite the numerous infirmary, our reserves (and it is especially pleasant that these are Ukrainian reserves) have shown that they can lay claim to the future.
Before the start of the season, the coach “suddenly” left us, but Dnipro-1 proved that it is already a big club. Whoever has any doubts, but we are confidently stepping forward. Right now, the team is creating history in European competitions, and it occupies a good place in the championship.
Unfortunately, due to freaks, we do not have the opportunity to play at our stadium now. But we are playing for Ukrainians — on the eve, in particular, for those temporarily residing in Slovakia — and we are waiting for the opportunity to return to the Dnipro-Arena. I am sure that our club will be as big as the native city of Dnipro. I have repeatedly said that I take my hat off to the glorious history of FC Dnepr, but SC Dnepr-1 is a new club, with a new history, and we have everything ahead of us. The biggest dream and goal is to win the Champions League. I think this should be a normal aspiration of any club in Europe.
And I would like to separately note the Dnepr-1 subdivision - we are one with you! We will definitely do everything so that Dnipro-1 plays and wins in Donetsk, Luhansk, and Simferopol," Bereza said.
