Shakhtar defender Valeriy Bondar shared his thoughts on the team's performance.
“In fact, we just love football very much and try to demonstrate it on the field. As many of our guys, both Zhora Sudakov and Artem Bondarenko, have already said, I want us not just to be called promising players. We are already those football players and at the age when we must be responsible for the result and bear full responsibility for what happens on the field.
Yes, we have a young team, but this does not mean that we will just go out and be whipping boys. We love to play beautiful football, as required of us. And the previous coaches wanted this, and our current coach, and the leadership. Everyone here is assembled with such qualities, they know how to play football and, of course, achieve the desired result.
Even if it is necessary to play without the ball for some time, we will endure and play without the ball, because it brings us results.
We already have 10-11 Ukrainians playing in the Champions League, and this shows the level of work of our academy and our coaches. We see the fruits of the work that has been done before.
It turns out that you can play without the guys who left. It's nice. For now, we are showing the level that they want from us and that is now seen in the Champions League.
We have a team entering the field and playing, not 1-2 players. Misha (Mudrik, - approx.) scores for a reason, because he himself can beat ten. Our guys give him good passes: Sudakov, Bondarenko, and Taras Stepanenko. If there weren’t these passes, then, perhaps, there wouldn’t be these goals either.
First of all, we have a single team that does what is required of us,” said Bondar.
