The Football Association of Wales is considering an official change in the name of national teams. This will happen after the 2022 World Cup, according to local media.
The Welsh want to call their teams "Cymru" - that's the local name for Wales - officially internationally. Domestically, this name has always been used.
“The team should be called Cymru, which is what we call it here,” said Noel Mooney, chief executive of the Football Association of Wales. “At the international level, we still have a little more work to do. Therefore, we are going to this World Cup like Wales. But I think that 2023 will be the year when we have a successful discussion of this issue with all stakeholders.
