Today, the Holosiivskyi court will consider a petition regarding the finance director of UAF Sagaidak, who was hiding from the investigation and was declared wanted.

Yuriy Zapisotskyi

Currently, the Holosiivskyi District Court of Kyiv, composed of Judge Kateryna Hryhorivna Plahotnyuk, is considering the request of the investigation to apply preventive measures to the UAF general secretary Yuriy Hryhorovych Zapisotskyi and the director of the Finance Department of the UAF Sagaidak Yevgenia Stepanivna, who are suspected of embezzling UAF funds.

The law enforcement officers submitted the specified petitions on October 26, however, in violation of the three-day deadline, the petitions regarding Zapisotskyi were considered in only 7 days, and regarding Sagaidak, the proceedings did not even begin. Evgenia Sahaydak is on trial for embezzlement of more than 3 million euros. Then, in 2016-2017, the Ukrainian Football Association wrote off the money allocated by UEFA to support football in Ukraine for elite tea, coffee and seafood.

The court also ignores the request of the law enforcement officers to bring Evgenia Sagaidak to the courtroom, which was submitted on October 26. Experienced lawyers say that this is nonsense, because such requests for investigation under the procedural law must be considered by the court immediately.

Just looking at these facts, one can assume Judge Plahotniuk's favor with the suspects.

However, there are other circumstances that require public attention to these processes.

Thus, journalists learned that Ms. Sagaidak was hiding from the investigation, with the aim of making it difficult to hand over procedural documents to her. That is why she was declared wanted, and on the basis of this, the investigation asked the court to bring her to court. However, on the eve of the consideration of the motion to impose a preventive measure on Zapisotskyi, she contacted the court and informed the court that she would take part in the court hearing. It was on this day that Mr. Zapisotskyi was given an unreasonably lenient preventive measure.

Journalists were in the courtroom and heard that the law enforcement officers demanded an election regarding Zapisotsky's preventive measure in the form of detention. And this is quite logical, because he is suspected of embezzling more than 90 million hryvnias, which is a particularly serious crime punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years with confiscation of property.

Instead, the court applied the weakest preventive measure in the form of restriction of movement outside Zapisotskyi's place of residence. Even bail was not applied, although Zapisotskyi's salary in the public union UAF is almost 6 million hryvnias per year. That is, he definitely cannot be considered a person who does not have the opportunity to make a deposit.

So, the appearance of the wanted Sagaidak does not seem to be accidental at all.

The request for a preventive measure against Sagaidak will be considered already today, and we really want to hope that the court will be more attentive to the case of embezzlement of funds, which should have been directed, first of all, to the development and maintenance of children's football, but went into the pockets of football officials.
