The head coach of FC Chornomorets Odessa Roman Grigorchuk summed up the results of his team's yesterday's match with FC Dynamo Kyiv (0:3) in the 11th round of the Ukrainian Championship, which, we recall, was held in Odessa.
“When out of 10 matches that we played, 7-8 follow the same scenario and look the same from the outside, then my analysis of these matches will also be, plus or minus, the same. So now I can only repeat what I said many times after our matches.
I can’t say that we play badly, mediocre, that we don’t give ourselves on the football field. But I understand that all these words of mine have no meaning. In sports and football in particular, only one thing matters - the result. For this result to be, it is necessary to score goals and not make mistakes in defense, after which the opponent scores for us. For example, the second penalty to our goal in today's match is a consequence of the decision of our defender, which should not be in the game at all.
Now, one thing worries me the most: I am incredibly uncomfortable in front of the Odessa football world. I understand that now the only thing that matters is that Chernomorets is in last place. All we have to do in the near future is to score as many points as possible in the next matches. There is no point in talking about the rest now - nobody is interested in all this now.
And in a match like against Dynamo, one goal changes everything. He changed the psychology, emotions, strategy, tactics, mood of people. And the slightest mistake - and immediately a goal in our goal. The psychological pressure that is now being put on each of our football players is on the verge. All the guys are terribly worried that we are not winning, we are not taking points. I am most worried about the fact that I do not justify the hopes of the inhabitants of Odessa. For ten years I have been living in Odessa and all this time I have felt like an infinitely happy person. Therefore, now I feel very bad,” Grigorchuk said at a press conference after the match against Dynamo.
