The Belgian Gent reacted to the scandal associated with the offensive banner of the club's fans against the Ukrainian striker of Brugge Roman Yaremchuk, which they hung out during yesterday's match of these two teams in the Belgian championship.
Gent's statement, published on the club's official website, says: "The Gent club categorically disapproves of the banner that was unfurled against Roman Yaremchuk. It's tasteless, disrespectful, and it has no place in our stadium.
The appearance of such a banner is the result of the work of individuals carried out without the knowledge of Gent and, of course, without permission. The banner was quickly removed. "Gent" on behalf of the perpetrators apologizes to Roman Yaremchuk."
Recall that during the match between Brugge and Gent, fans of the home team, which Yaremchuk had previously played for, hung a banner with the inscription: "Death to traitors, Yaremchuk is Judas."
