15 years later: Zaragoza no longer owes money to Shakhtar for Matuzalem

Spanish Zaragoza no longer owes money to Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Francelino Matuzalem. El Periodico de Aragon informs about this.

Francelino Matuzalem

It is reported that Zaragoza, which is currently undergoing bankruptcy proceedings, no longer owes money to Shakhtar for Matuzalem.

The Brazilian midfielder scandalously left the Donetsk club in 2007 and signed an agreement with Zaragoza. Shakhtar spent several years to prove their case in this case and sue compensation in the amount of 13.5 million euros. But the financial situation of Zaragoza was then unsatisfactory, as a result, the debt obligations of the Spanish club to Shakhtar were reduced to 4.7 million euros.

Shakhtar received only 332,000 euros from Zaragoza for the transfer, and the rest of the amount was planned as a deferment right up to 2031.

The publication reports that Shakhtar is no longer one of Zaragoza's creditors. The Donetsk club conceded its claims to the investment group and no longer claims any compensation from Zaragoza.
